Ann Margret
started her career in the early 60’s acting and singing
alongside such legends as Bette Davis and Elvis Presley
and hasn’t seemed to stop for a moment. While she’s
best known for her acting, she has recorded a number of
albums, mostly during the 60’s. Most relevant to this
site is her self titled 1980 EP for MCA Records.
"Listen to me, I can
make you feel weak, our bodies yearn to unite!"
The
sexy disco EP includes five stunning tracks, you haven’t
lived till you’ve heard old Ann growling through the
orgasmic Midnight Message! Or her commanding you to make
her Love Rush! It’s a whole lot of fun and guaranteed to
get a lot of play if you like this sort of thing.
According to session musician Rick Bozzo who played on the
album it sold over a million copies worldwide! Ann even
did a TV special to promote the EP at the time, but it
only found an audience with disco fans who made both the
singles, Love Rush and Midnight Message, hits on the
Dance/Club charts. The EP was re-issued by a small
US
label GetDisconnected last year, but I think it’s pretty
expensive for 5 songs. Thankfully the powers of the
internet aren't lost on the fabulous Ann and she has seen
fit to stick the EP on I-Tunes at a sensible price, I just
bought it!
Producer
Paul Sabu also released the non-LP single ‘Everybody
Needs Somebody Sometime’ via independent site CDbaby but
alas it’s sold out. Again, I-Tunes has it though so get
on over there and bag yourself a great track, complete
with it’s original B-side at a bargain price!
