Decline
Of A Diva
Unfortunately
for Melissa, everything started going to shit. The other
releases from her debut album did not achieve the same
level of success as the first two singles and her attempt
at a more "hip" 90s dance sound resulted in the
wonderfully hilarious and completely adorable "Is
It". The next decade saw Melissa's career plummet to
unexpected new lows. She did manage to snag a memorable
role on Pacific Drive as a HIV+ glamour model but most of
the publicity she received
centred around a reputed eating
disorder and an alleged plastic surgery overhaul.
Melissa’s TV appearances slowed down in the late 1990s
and she hit rock bottom - as a regular on the Sydney gay
scene. Not as a performer - but as a spray tan operator
for the Body Bronze solarium chain! Melissa then crashed
through rock bottom and kept on plummeting when she became
the spokeswoman for disreputable pre-mature ejaculation
medication. Needless to say, Melissa’s army of gay fans
were completely overawed by her unprecedented degree of
fabulousness!

Resurrection
Much
to the delight of homosexuals around the globe, 2005 saw
the release of Melissa’s first single in 12 long years.
Melissa staged her comeback with a fierce cover version of
"The Glamorous Life", which boasts one of the
most fabulous film clips in Australian pop history and
returned Melissa to the top 40 of the singles chart.
Melissa continued her comeback with "All I
Want", which flopped despite being rather brilliant.
Melissa’s album “Lost & Found” suffered the same
fate but lives on as one of the best Australian pop trash
albums of the decade.

False
Hope
Melissa’s
comeback appeared to be over before it has even started.
That is until Melissa announced that she was going to
release a re-worked version of “Lost & Found” in
December 2006. Melissa’s fans rejoiced, not only due to
the fact that it had taken her less than a decade to
release new material but also because Melissa hooked up
with some quality producers, which resulted in the
cracking first single "Easily Affected". Sadly,
the single missed the top 50 and Melissa’s record
company decided to shelve the project. Melissa’s fans
live in hope that the new tracks will eventually see the
light of day. Melissa might be down but history has proved
that this beacon of fabulousness is most definitely not
out. Melissa, come back and show the other bitches how
it’s done!
